Feijoada Blanket

Feijoada comes from communal kitchens in Brazil, shaped by African heritage and Portuguese influence, passed down through everyday cooking rather than recipes. It’s a food built on care, time, and making something generous out of very little. Feijoada translates directly as "bean stew”.

It is the dish served at every big celebration I’ve hosted, cooked by my mother. It’s home.

Beans are a backbone of African diasporic cooking, carrying nourishment, memory, and survival across generations and borders.
